Hertfordshire Fillers in the lower face

As the signs of ageing effect us all, we start to lose volume in the lower third of our face and combined with the effect of gravity, many of us are unhappy with the tired look in this region of the face.

There are many possible procedures that can help restore the loss volume and roll back the years. It all depends on the amount of volume loss.

With minimal volume loss it may be possible to use botox combined with a good skin care regime.

With moderate volume loss we may be able to use dermal fillers to plump up certain areas, such as the nose to mouth lines.

With more severe volume loss, we can use volumerisers to add volume to the cheeks and uplift the lower face region.

Call Dr Harry singh NOW on 01438 300111 to see how dermal fillers in Hertfordshire can help you in the lower face.

What are the potential side effects of botox?

Have the potential side effects of Botox® put you off from having the treatment to reduce your wrinkles?

Botox® is a very popular treatment to reduce wrinkles, however you need to be aware of certain side effects associated with this procedure. If you are unsure on what to expect after the procedure, we will explain all the common side effects and want you can do to minimise these or even eliminate them.

Botox® is a very effective treatment and we don’t want you to be put off by scare stories you have read in the press or seen on the television. If you are informed and prepared for the side effects associated with Botox® you will have peace of mind and not let it put you off the procedure.

Here are the different side effects you can potentially expect:

1. Headaches

Botox® can dehydrate your body and you will need to follow a couple of instructions to minimise and prevent this. We recommend to drink plenty of water after the procedure, at least 2 litres of water in the first 24 hours. We also advise to avoid alcohol for the first 24 hours.

2.Drooping eyelids

There are a number of reasons why this may occur:

  1. (a)  Too much Botox® has been given in the forehead. This muscle lifts your eyes, so if it is relaxed too much it will not be able to maintain the position of your eyes.
  2. (b)  Not enough Botox® has been administrated in your frown muscle. This muscle pulls your eyes down, so if this muscle is still active, then it will have a downward pull on the eyes
  3. (c)  The Botox® may have travelled downwards to the eyes. This could have been caused by exercising straight after the procedure or bending downwards. So we recommend not to exercise for 24 hours after the procedure and also not to bend down too excessively

3.Frozen look

This will occur if too much Botox® has been administrated. We would normally recommend to underdose initially and if you require further treatment then to have the Top Up after a couple of weeks. The frozen look will disappear over time as the effects of Botox® begin to wear off. This is different for each person and can be anything between 3-6 months.

4.Wrinkles still there

The effects of the treatment will normally take around 2 weeks to work. The first few days your skin will feel tighter at the injection area. You should have a review appointment 2 weeks after the initial visit. At this visit the Doctor will see if you require any further Botox®, known as the Top Up. This will take on average a week for you to see the results. If the wrinkles are still present then either you will need more Botox® or you were not suitable for the procedure, e.g deep lines or lines at rest only (i.e no lines on facial expression).

5.Inflammation and Swelling

You will experience slight redness at the injection sites. This is common, so don’t be alarmed. This will normally resolve within an hour of having the procedure.

Due to the amount of fluid being injected you will also expect to see some swelling at the injection sites. This will be similar to a bee sting and will resolve within an hour of the procedure.

How long does botox in hertfordshire last?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions from our patients. This is hard to answer as each person is different. As a guide we would normally expect the results of botox in hertfordshire to last anything between 3 and 6 months.

To offer our patients peace of mind, we guarantee all botox results for 3 months from the date of the original treatment.

Another question we get asked is, the more I have the treatment will it last longer. The answer is no. The botox would be out of your system at the same rate if it was the first time you ahd it or several times. However since you are training the muscles to relax, in theory the more you have it the longer the muscle will be relaxed and the lines will be less even after the botox has disappered.

Men demanding botox hertfordshire

More and more men in hertfordshire are now turning to botox to slow down the signs of aging. Before, botox used to be for celebrities and then women, and now men don’t want to miss out. They have seen the fantastic results achievable with botox and want some of the same.

Typically the muscles in men are stronger so will require either larger or more concentrated doses. In addition we would not want to raise the eyebrows of men, giving them a feminine look. Just the same as women, if you dont want anyone else to nwo, we can provide the natural look, where you can still carry out facial expressions but have vislbly less or no lines on the face.

So if your partner is looking a bit tired, why not bring them along with you! Don’t keep it a secret from your partner and let them know about botox hertfordshire.

Will I still be able to move my face after botox?

Many patients who see me for botox hertfordshire are worried that they will leave with a frozen look.

Unlike our friends in the USA who prefer no movement the Europeans would rather opt for a natural look with some movement.

We can control the amount of movement you have following the treatment by varying the dose we use and the dilution.

For all new patients I prefer to slightly under dose and when we I review them in 2 weeks we can administer any top ups if required. This way you do not get the frozen look and still reduce or eliminate your lines.

By working together we can control the desired result and give you a natural look so no one can tell you have had any botox procedure.

botox hertfordshire – how long should it last?

Each individual is slightly different, however this is what I have found with my botox hertfordshire patients.

After the procedure the skin will feel tight after 2-3 days. The full effect will take a maximum of 10 days. I woudl then see the patient for a review appointment at 2 weeks and administer and top ups required.

Then you would be looking on avergae between 3-4 months for the effects to alst. We offer all our patients a 3 moth gurantee, where they can come back within 3 months and recieve a free top up if needed.

We have found in some aptients the longer they have the botx tretament the longer it lasts, but in some patients it makes no differnce on how long it will last.

Is botox in Hertfordshire safe?

This is one of the commonest questions I get asked for patients undertaking or thinking about having botox hertfordshire.

In 2002 the FDA approved Botox® for reducing glabellar lines after trials showed that it is safe and effective in its use for up to 120 days.

There are a number of invalid reasons that the press or media tell you that botox is not safe.

One is that very large doses are used to treat certain neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral palsy. The doses used here are vast compared to what we would use for cosmetic reasons. As with any drug the higher the dose the more chance of side effects.

Another reason is that the results have not been favourable. This is more to due with the skill of the practitioner rather than the drug itself.

Lastly some patients have reported side effects such as the eyes closing or drooping down. This is due to an incorrect technique by the practitioner and relates to above, it is the skill and experience of the practitioner that is the problem and not the drug itself.

In sumamry it is perfectly safe and I am more than happy to have it myself and I also give it to my wife.

pigmentation – not even botox can treat this

Pigmentation, uneven skin tone

An uneven skin tone, or hyper pigmentation, is the result of an over production of melanin. Melanin is what gives skin and hair its colour, helps protect skin against damaging UV light and absorbs heat from the sun. However, an overproduction of melanin stimulated by excessive sun exposure, hormones, or scarring, leads to a mottled, uneven skin tone.

1) Sun exposure: When skin is repeatedly exposed to UV light, sun damage occurs. Brown spots appear as a result of too much melanin being produced to help protect skin from UV light.

2) Hormones: Melasma is hormone-related hyper pigmentation caused by increased hormone stimulation. It is most commonly experienced by women who are pregnant (which is why it’s also known as the “mask of pregnancy”) or taking contraceptives, but can also be a reaction to cosmetics or medications.

3) Post-Inflammatory Hyper pigmentation: This is a darkening of skin that’s the result of scarring, which can be caused by acne lesions or skin injury.

Just as any brightening regimen must be approached with diligence to experience results, daily use of sun protection is just as imperative.

Even the strictest of brightening regimens can be counteracted by minimal exposure to UV light. When a hyper pigmented area is exposed to UV light, more melanin production is triggered on a cellular level, causing further darkening. Ironically, this production of melanin is just your skin trying to protect itself from damaging UV light.

Daily application of SPF will help shield skin from UV light to control melanin production on a cellular level.  It can even help lessen the appearance of hyper pigmentation triggered by hormone fluctuations (such as melasma) or post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation (scarring).

The most common pattern of melasma is centrofacial: on the chin, upper lip, cheeks, nose, and forehead.  But it can also show up to a lesser extent on the cheeks, nose, and jaw line.

Studies suggest up to 75% of women may develop melasma during pregnancy and about 33% of women on oral contraceptives show symptoms as well. However, once hormonal fluctuations subside, such as the end of pregnancy or the discontinuing of oral contraceptives, the hyper pigmentation often disappears.

It’s important you speak with a skin care professional, especially if you’re pregnant, before beginning treatment for hyper pigmentation.
