Botox® and where to use it

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about botox and when it is not suitable.

The majority of new patients that seek botox treatments are suitable and have realistic expectations for their treatment. However there are certain cases when botox may not be suitable for a particular patient.

For example, botox works on motion lines. These are lines that appear when you carry out facial expression, such as frowning, raising your eyes or smiling. If you have lines at rest and when you carry out a facial expression and nothing happens to that line, then in most cases, botox would not be suitable for you.

Botox®, in addition does not remove lines. It will soften lines and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If you want no lines, then botox will not be suitable.

If you have an important function, such as a wedding or birthday within a week and want botox to improve your appearance or soften your lines, then botox would not be suitable. For the majority of patients botox will take anything between 5 and 10 days to work.

Botox® and the ageing process

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about the ageing process through the decades and how botox can help.

Solution – botox to most of upper face and to elevate eyebrows. Dermal fillers to enhance lips and Naso Labial lines to hold malar fat pad in place.

40-50 years

Problem – cheek begins to flatten, malar fat pad descent becomes more obvious. Naso Labial lines deepen. Facial fat atrophy becomes evident with concavity of the surface contour in the temple area and cheeks appearing. Eyes may become sunken as a result of fat atrophy.

Solution – Dermal Fillers to central face to hold malar fat pad in place and achieve volumerisation

Problem – collagen and elastin levels continue to fall resulting in eye lid bags and lines appear in upper and lower lips. Forehead wrinkles deepen. Gravity and the pull of muscles cause drooping or sagging of the skin and deeper structures from areas of deeper attachment.

Problem – chin area continue to enlarge, eye sockets begin to widen.

He is not only a skillful facial aesthetician but a keen marketer which he feels is vital to attract and retain patients requesting facial aesthetic services. He has published numerous articles on the clinical and non clinical aspects of facial aesthetics and spoken at dental and facial aesthetics conferences on these topics.  aesthetics was shortlisted in Private Dentistry Awards 2012 and 2013 under the Best Facial Aesthetics Clinic and finalist in 2012 myfacemybody under Best Aesthetics Clinic.  He was a normal GDP and if he can build a successful facial aesthetics clinic, so can you.

Botox® – questions you need to ask

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about some questions to ask your practitioner.

You should always have a detailed consultation prior to any botox treatments and never feel pressurised to have any treatment immediately. Some of the questions or concerns you may want answered are below.

What is involved in the botox procedure? You should be told what to expect before, during and after the botox visit. Any special precautions you need to undertake and the follow up care given.

How long have you been doing botox? You don’t want to go to someone who has just started on botox.

How many botox procedures have you done? Same as above, you want someone experienced in this field.

What results can I expect from the botox? You want someone to give you realistic expectations rom the botox treatment and not over inflate the expected results.

How long is the recovery time? Normally the swelling and redness will go down after 30 minutes.

What sort of bruising or swelling should I expect?

What complications can occur?

Can I see some photos of botox patients who have had the procedure?

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

Botox® – why have it

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog shares his thoughts on botox and why patients would seek this treatment.

The main reason why patients will seek botox treatments is to to feel better about themselves. They maybe showing the signs of aging where fine lines and wrinkles maybe appearing, they may feel stressed , over worked or tired and want a quick pick up treatment.

The next reason to undertake botox injections is to be more attractive to their partners. And int he majority of cases they don’t tell their partners that they have undertaken botox treatments. Its a strange situation, where the partners want their other half to look and feel good, but cant understand why they would pay for botox injections.

Next on the list is to improve their professional/work image. We are living in a world where people are judged on their image. Botox® is a quick and cost effective procedure with very little downtime.

Another reason is to compete with other women/ men of similar or younger ages. We all like to look our best amongst our peers.

One more reason is to improve their social status to follow a fashionable trend. This is not that common and I would only treat patients with botox if I feel it will make a difference.

And the least common reason to seek botox treatment is to to look good on social media/facebook.
