Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about botox and the lower third of the face.

In the majority of cases the upper third of the face is treated with botox injections, namely the frown, forehead and eyes. However botox can be used to treat the lower third of the face and I will discuss the most commonest areas requested for botox treatments.

The first is the chin area. Some people when they contract their chin muscles produce lines or an orange peel effect around the chin area. This can be successfully treated with botox. You will notice the results within 2 weeks.

The next area we could consider to treat with botox is the vertical lines that ape ear either above the upper lip or below the lower lip. These are normally referred to as smokers lines. However these so called smokers lines can appear in non smokers. These lines can be seen when you purse the lips. The botox injections are placed very superficially and a very small dose is used.

Next we can consider the sides of the nose. When you scrunch your nose, lines may appear on the side of the nose, also known as bunny lines. Same again the botox is paced into the muscles to reduce the appearance of these lines.

Another area, where botox can be effective to treat is the corners of the mouth. Some people can produce a sad look and this muscles grows in strength over time, to such an extent that it might permanently force the corners of the mouth downwards to give a sad look all the time. The botox can relax this muscle and uplift the corners of the mouth. This is a very subtle result.

Other areas that can be considered for botox injections are the neck area, jaw muscles and neck line.
