At aesthetics our whole dental team work in partnership and our ultimate goal is to eliminate dental disease to improve your oral health and enhance your confidence and smile, by providing you with a full comprehensive range of treatment options.

Visiting your Dental Hygienist on a regular basis is one of the most important steps you can take to maintain or improve your oral health.
Visits to the hygienist are not just about having your teeth cleaned, keeping your teeth and gums healthy is your best insurance against future tooth loss.
The capability they possess to keep your mouth infection-free goes far beyond scaling and polishing your teeth.

Bleeding of our gums
This is the first noticeable sign of Gum Disease, and it is not normal for healthy gums to bleed on brushing or flossing!
A build up of plaque bacteria collects around the gumline, and when left this bacteria causes gum inflammation (swelling) and bleeding, which we call Gingivitis. If this plaque is not removed by correct brushing and flossing techniques it will harden in to Calculus (commonly known as tartar or scale) and then can only be removed professionally.
Gingivitis is a reversible condition and when treated with effective cleaning techniques, the gums can regain health within a few weeks.
If Gingivitis is not treated in the early stages it can spread to the deeper tissues under the gum, and the tartar can causes permanent, irreversible damage to the bone and the gum tissues surrounding the teeth, known as Periodontal Disease (PD).
If PD is not treated or arrested, its effects, which include bone loss, gum recession, loose teeth, unsightly spaces between the teeth, will remain and can eventually lead to tooth loss.

The aim of Periodontal treatment is to prevent further damage
Gum disease is still the main reason for tooth extraction in adults.
Unfortunately, even with the most diligent home dental care, some susceptible people can still develop periodontal disease.
Prevention is not something that is done to you, it is done by you, but once the disease gets started, professional intervention is necessary to prevent its progress.

There is no longer any doubt of the serious affects of Gingivitis and PD on overall health, and it has been related in contributing or increasing the risk of many serious health problems including:

Heart Attack, Stroke, Diabetes, Respiratory and Digestive Diseases, Osteoporosis, Low birth weight in premature births.

aesthetics Hygienist Services:
Smita is a fully qualified dental professional who can provide preventive and corrective dental care and promote good Oral Hygiene and Health.
Smita has been trained to examine and assess teeth and gums for dental diseases like Gingivitis (Gum Disease), Periodontal Disease and Dental Decay and can help you by providing treatments to combat dental disease, explaining how these disease's occur and what people can do to prevent it.
Your initial Hygienist appointment, will consist of checking your Medical History, Soft Tissue and Oral Cancer Screening your past Dental Health, your current Oral Hygiene Home Care Routine and a full Comprehensive Assessment and Screening of your Gums and Teeth to assess the level of disease present.
After assessing your gums, teeth the relevant data and screening results, Smita will present you with a tailor made dental prevention and maintenance program and be able to discuss your goals in order to help you restore your mouth to the optimum level of dental health and function.
At your aesthetics hygiene appointments, Smita will aim to remove built-up plaque and tartar above and below the gum line (which may involve more than one visit), so that growth of harmful bacteria that causes gum disease can be eliminated.
It is often recommended that both children and adults should see their dental hygienist every 3 to 6 months, depending on the level of disease present in one's mouth, and any relevant dental, medical or health factors affecting their dental health.
Between dental hygiene visits it is important to follow the tailor made dental prevention and maintenance program developed by you and Smita, to stop or reverse the gum disease.
At aesthetics we combine the Hygiene appointment jointly with the Dentist Examination at 6 monthly intervals. We understand time is precious and short for our patients, so with this combined appointment it saves our patients both time and money, as they are only booked in for one appointment instead of two separate visits. At these appointments Smita will also carry out a Medical History Check, Oral Cancer & Soft Tissue Screening, Restorative Screening and Periodontal Screening, and will present the relevant data of all of these screenings for Dr Singh to assess further when he comes in to do his dental examination.

Smita is also trained and certified in providing the following treatments:
